The Graduate Program of Chemical Engineering-PGEQ, offers master and doctorate courses. Since 2001, almost 200 degrees have been awarded, between masters (151) and doctorates (48). Our program was awarded a “Level 7” score (max score = 7) in the last two evaluations from “Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior” – CAPES, corresponding to the last four years period 2013-2016. This prominent position among graduate chemical engineering centers in the country has attracted students from other brazilian states that already are almost half of the freshmen. The attraction of foreign students has been increased by regular grants offers via Programa de Alianças para a Educação e a Capacitação–PAEC of OAS (Organization of American States).
The main objectives of PGEQ are: to train students to be leaders in research and development in industry or government, train students to be faculty members at colleges and universities and contribute significantly to the scientific and technological development of the chemical engineering area.
Since its foundation the PGEQ has cultivated a transdisciplinary culture with 1/3 of the research-active faculty from others university departments or national research institutes. This rich environment of exchanges has led to a high scientific productivity, one of the highest in the country.
